Creative Gift Grades 3-6 See Link to Flyer

Creative Gift is a digital art enrichment program I have developed, focusing on the cognitive aspects of creativity, versus self-expression and emotional learning. This is not a traditional art enrichment program.

The purpose of my program is to challenge young thinkers to see the world with new perspectives to foster creativity and critical thinking skills.

I agree that emotional expression is fun, and also important to healthy psychological development. I think traditional art classes are wonderful for this. However, I am personally more interested in helping kids learn to use their eyes and minds in a way that will help maximize their natural capacity to think creatively and freely. I want to get kids to ask questions about the world around them, by seeing the world from their own unique perspectives. I want to give them an opportunity to think as creators, versus consumers. I want them to spend more time thinking about what they can create and give, versus what they can buy or have.

I find that the world of children is so interesting because their experiences and thoughts so uniquely tied to the age-experience of what we call "childhood". I fully believe that their views are important, rare, and can even provide incredibly creative and powerful solutions to today's real problems. Think of a crockpot. You don't use it the way you would use a frying pan to make scrambled eggs in 5-minutes. You put the ingredients in, and the key to a successful crockpot dish is slow-cooking over time. That's what I want to do; I want to put the ingredients in, and get the process started, because the REAL work happens slowly over TIME. But the button HAS TO BE PUSHED!! Otherwise, the magic of crockpot chronology doesn't happen...

Creativity is not only limited to visual or emotional representation, but is also a critical component to problem-solving, innovation, and understanding the world on a deeper level. I chose the visual and digital medium as a tool and platform to deliver my creative gift curriculum, because the digital world is uniquely interactivity, provides immediate response, and offers an environment where kids can experiment with and make creative decisions, and assess outcomes of those decisions in the relative safety of a "virtual" reality. Classes all take place, under the guideful eye of a fully capable instructor.

The difference from this experience will be one of a deeper level of enrichment. I will challenge your child to ask questions, to see the world in a deeper way and with a more critical eye, and to learn to notice things that we usually take for granted. Don't wait to get the crockpot cooking, and sign-up for my Creative Gift class TODAY.
